Whatsup with the queue @ Zouk???

Happy Vesak Day and Happy Birthday ML!!!

Met the Irritants for dinner @ MOF yesterday, so happy to see them as it has been a long time since we last had an outing. As usual, blur queen will perform for us throughout our meal while we will try to ignore totally. She is so abnormal, who on earth will bring makeup cleanser to club with the intention of redoing it again? Anyway the girls went clubbing @ Zouk after dinner. Reached there at abt 9+ and the queue was damn bl**dy long, it went all the way up till the bridge and took us two hours to be somewhr near Wine Bar. Then we saw the sign - FULL HOUSE. To add on to our irritation, we had to bear with the irksome guy behind us who crack stupid jokes and the group who tried to cut queue and still denied the accusation. Argh so frustrating.....

In the end, we went to Butter Factory @ Robertson Quay (Hei pronounced this as chicken in hokkien hahaha) and got in slightly after midnight. Had a fun time there despite the earlier episode. Home sweet home @ 4am....

Woke early today as there is a family chalet - went to check in, buy groceries, marinate the food...... Downtown East really change alot with the increase in no of eateries and fun recreational areas. Pray hard that i dont need to work late tml so that i can go BBQ early. =)

Sammi Show Mi Concert Videos

Sammi Show Mi Concert was FANTASTIC.... Sammi is MAGNIFICENT!!!
I must say that it is really worthwhile flying over to HK to watch her concert for the stage effects, her live performance, her costumes, her dance moves and most importantly coz she is the Canto Diva - SAMMI.

News report- Sammi hugging Andy Lau & cried while reading her letter
Sammi cried during her concert while she read the letter which she wrote to herself regarding her depressing thoughts over work, life, etc for the past two years.... Feel like tearing when i see her cry =(

Performance - victorian style stage setup and stage effects
Sammi and her umbrella costume, must take note how the stage moves as we can never see such effects in Singapore.

Fast dance song - 叮噹
Simply love her dancing =) too bad i cannot find the clip which has dance medley

終身美麗

Interview with Sammi

Encore - 1st night concert
The lights were all lit up during Sammi's HK concert encore session. The way she sings and performs really interacts with the audience and motivates us to sing together with her. I simply love her!!!!
She didnt really remember the lyrics for this song as it is not prepared for. See the way she waves her hands and hums to the music.. Isnt she cute even though she is 35?

I LOVE SAMMI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Samba Brazilian Churrascaria

Went for a late dinner with BE and Ron @ Samba Brazillian Churrascaria in Katong Village... It is $32 per pax with 15% and 20% discount for UOB and HSBC credit card respectively. Coincidentally, ah gu and friends were having dinner thr as well.. Long time never meet him liao, still look like a kind buddha =P

Anyway, have been having craving for this for a long time ever since Ms Tan treated @ Windows near Club Street as i simply love the roasted pineapple even though i am not a fan of this fruit. It really can make your meaty meal more appetising. The roasted pineapple served here, outer layer being roasted till caramelised, is nicer than the first time i had @ Sixth avenue but the salad bar in comparison is worse off. Looking at the pic (bottom right of this collage), guess whats on my dish?????

First guess - Brinjal.... WRONG
Second guess - Sweet potato........... WRONG
Third guess - B.A.N.A.N.A........

It took us three tries before we got the answer right haha coz this banana comes with skin. Had a nice dinner as we chatted and cracked stupid jokes. We were talking about the Korean star Rain and his muscular six packs. Then Ron happily said that he is Heavy Rain and we were dumbfounded... then realised that he meant he has one big pack. =)

The agony of being a painter

Just in case for those who dont know, i am going to stay with my future in-laws after marriage. I will have a small cosy room which i am totally satisfied as the renovations, furniture and painting for a room is already occupying alot of our time.

Have procrastinate painting the room for weeks, finally we decided to finish this off on Sunday (a day after i got back from the hectic HK trip) so that we can focus on other stuffs. Bought two pails of paint - Lilac White for room and Orchid White for the built-in wardrobe. Didnt really spot the difference btw the two as both looks so white.

Here's the built-in wardrobe outside our room with the ugly false wall. As we can only reach it with the help of the bamboo stick connecting to the paint brush, it took a relatively long time transforming the wall into a totally white flawless one.

Next we paint our love nest from blue to lilac white. While i was busy painting at the other corner, BE wrote this on the wall.... Haha so sweet... took a pic of it to mark down this sweet gesture (censoring his upper body for those under 18) =P

In total, we paint for almost 8 hours equivalent to normal working hours. Luckily future MIL helped us towards the end otherwise we might need to work OT. To prove that we are really conscientious worker, this is how dirty our feet looks like at the end of the day.

It is indeed a tiring chore to paint however the joy which both of us had throughout the process outweighs the agony. Together, we mark the new chapter of our life....

In the Airport heading to Hong Kong........

It is 6am now and haha the airport is playing Singapore National Anthem while i am busy typing this post using free internet access in the transit as we were too early to board onto the plane... Yawnzzz dragged myself off the hard mattress @ Di's place at about 345am, had a quick breakfast at Burger King before checking in. Nothing to do inside as most of the shops were still closed. Went bookstore to read magazines and there comes the sleeping bug... so tired...

Better try to catch some sleep in the plane as we have a tight shopping schedule throughout the entire trip =)

Second Bridal Fitting

BE finally got to do his suit fitting after accompanying me for so many trials and fittings. Here's his unfinished suit with so many funny-looking stitches. Initially he wanted a tuxedo - satin trimmings on the collars and pockets... After serious tots, he decided to go for a normal suit so that he can still use it in future and add on ties / cravats to make the suit more formal. The cutting is nice but needs a little alteration to make it fitting. Time to go for slimming exercise and less beer, Dude =)

Most of the time was spent on my gown trying to patch the black lace on the long satin train. Mel was extremely patient as we did alot of changes to the lace arrangement which looks a little weird initially. Pity her as she has to work OT jotting down the changes required for both our suit and gown after we left.

My back view

Do stay tuned for more updates.........
- third fitting on 29 May
- trial make up and final fitting on 22 June

One question marks a new beginning, new lifestyle, new journey.......

Sun Moon Dining again?? but this time round with long lost friend - Junie

Someone from Junie's blog, my long lost friend, requested her to check out Sun Moon Dining as she is a food gourmet blogger, so she asked me along as she knows that i LOVE food and maybe she also miss me. =P

The ambience for both Sun Moon Dining @ Chjimes and Sun With Moon @ Wheelock is fantastic. Another outlet at Central Mall is opening soon or has already opened? Anyway, on the whole, I will much prefer the one at Chjimes coz it is the place where BE brought me to prior proposing... =)

We managed to get the corner seat with plenty cushions. To provide more privacy to each diner, they specially built those translucent blinds between tables. Totally spoilt with choice and couldnt make up our mind so Junie decided to ask the waitress to our table while we order on the spot. This is definitely not a wise decision coz we lost track of the dishes we ordered and end up ordering a total of eight for two diners. Luckily the serving was not alot else we have to consider da-baoing.

Hotate and Golden Mushroom Wrapped with Beef

Chicken and broccoli curry oven yaki

Deep Fried Prawn with Rice and Roe

Potato and Cheese Hakata Fry

Atsugiri Buta Bara Kurumi Dare Yaki
- Grilled Pork Belly with Walnut Sauce

Oiishi Tofu Cheesecake in Cage???

The Pork Belly is the BEST of all - the meat is succulent and each bite of it with a little of fat is tender and not too oily. It doesnt look this appetising but trust me, you will love it after you try this dish. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED... Better go for it soon as they change their menu periodically. If you want any discount coupon, sms a day before hand and i will get it send to you

Thanks Junie for the treat... shall do another dinner soon
Dont worry, i will definitely remember your krispy kreme order =)

Dining @ Central and Prawn Fishing @ Bottle Tree Park

All thanks to sweetie BE for bringing me all the way to Central for dinner as i wanted to go there and try Marutama Ramen which thoughtful Junie has recommended, she really knows my taste.
The carpark is not very user friendly, we had to drive up all the way up to the 9th floor for a lot - this is the same floor as my house lor. As we were both hungry, we went straight in search of Marutama Ramen located on the 3rd floor. There is a relatively long queue but luckily we managed to get seats in a short time coz those ppl in front of us came in groups and they only have counter seat for two which is just nice for us. Thats the good thing having dinner with lesser ppl.

The place is opened and served by mostly Japanese, even those who are not Japanese can speak the language fluently. The whole setting is so cool and it really reminds us of our Japan trip last year. We ordered two Marutama Ramen with Ajitsuke Tamago (seasonal egg) - One with Kakuni (Pork Bellies) and the other with Char Siu. While waiting for our dinner, we saw that they automate the way they cook Ramen. The strainer which contains the Ramen will automatically lift up once it is cooked. Something interesting.... Maybe i can introduce this to those popular hawkers at Amoy Street so that they can streamline their process and do their work more efficiently.

On the whole, it doesnt taste as good as i expect - it is a little salty and expensive. I will prefer the soup base to be pork broth instead of chicken. Anyway although i will not go there in near future, it is still worth a try.
We went to shop around and saw this nice Nipponya selling nice and "looks delicious" Japanese snacks. I was mesmerized by the window display and tempted to purchase at least one back home but when i looked at the price, it is takai (exp) man. It doesnt take me so much to buy the same thing if i were to purchase in Japan. So in the end, i left empty handed. Then we came across mini donut and croissant shop...wanted to buy some but realise that we only had about $4.50 cash in total. So we went in search for ATM and got to know that the nearest is either at Chinatown or Liang Court --- aiyo it is so far.... Ultimately, we bought the croissants only which cost $2.80.
Happy with my purchase, we went upstairs to take a peak at the Singapore River night view... Then i saw Hokkaido ice cream shop. Argh!!!! it is such an agony looking at the ice cream and the cash on hand and I really regretted purchasing the croissants. Anyway BE had promised to bring me there again for the ice cream. This time round, I will make sure i have ample cash in my wallet.

Wanted to pay our godson a visit but he was at his maternal granny place so we decided to check out the prawn fishing @ Bottle Tree Park located at Sembawang or opposite Yishun stadium since the night is still young. Nice place for prawning next time but it is a pity that it closes early at about 12am.

Sakuraya and 高记 @ Parkway

Traveled all the way to Parkway with Mama and Fifth Aunt with the intention of looking at dresses for my wedding, however their attention diverts the moment we stepped there. They spent most of their time looking at ladies' favourite friend instead - DIAMONDS..... I totally agree with my colleague who quoted this during meeting - Men are from Mars and Women from Venus. Men will focus in getting what they have in mind whereas Women will tend to get distracted during their shopping trip and end up purchasing things that are not in their shopping list. I totally agree with this statement as I am someone like that and will always get reminded by BE to stay focus while shopping with him!

Prior having dinner at 高记, i brought them to Sakuraya - the japanese fish mart at Parkway B1-83D. I ordered Mama and my fav's salmon sashimi - thickly sliced for us to savour its flavour and freshness. It is simply irresistible... Highly recommended.....
As Fifth Aunt doesnt take raw food, so we went to 高记 near the food court for proper dinner. The waitress served us their 咸菜 appetiser, i like it as it has a sour and sweet taste. We ordered a couple of dishes which includes 三杯鸡, 排骨拉面, 锅贴 and 小龙包 to share. Dont really know whats the ingredients for making 三杯鸡 but this dish is definitely something you can try.
As for the 小龙包, i prefer this to Din Tai Fung as the skin is not as thick and dry, the taste is a combination of the skin, meat and most imptly the gravy. It should be best eaten with some vinegar and ginger.

As usual, Mama will always looking around for food instead of concentrating at the delicacies on her table... I think this habit applies to the whole Liow family as Fifth aunt is also like that haha. They are like gourmet expert who will hunt for all the good food in the restaurant and will definitely wont give a miss to those popular dishes served. They saw our next table eating 银鱼, so they also wanted a plate for themselves as well. It is a giant 银鱼, same length as the inner circle of the plate, as compared to those in Nasi Lemak. Delicious but a little bit expensive for the small serving.

Spidey Spidey 3

Yeah got to watch Spidey 3 today with BE.... The last movie which we watched together was Prologue during CNY in Feb. Luckily we booked the tixs online coz the queue was extremely long when we reached there. We had dinner at the HK Cafe - Central. I ordered Seafood baked rice and BE ordered pork floss toast and ham & cheese sandwich. The serving for the rice was too much for my appetite, it tastes good for a cheese lover like me. Dont ever order their sandwiches or toast coz it is NOT yummy at all and NOT worth the money. Then we went around shopping for a watch for bro, just realise that Tag Heuer actually cost more than a grand. I am such a Mountain tortoise....

We were too early for the movie which starts at nine so we walked around and saw this poster on movie experiences. I must really compliment GV for these comic strips as it is interesting and can easily capture audience's attention yet not offending anyone. I like their recent one which features the screaming prawn from the Legend of the Sea - this new Chinese cartoon having JJ singing the movie theme song.

The show is approx 140 mins; on the whole, i prefer this to Spidey part 2 but we cannot stand the seats at Tampines Mall - a little narrow for our fat legs. The most funny scene is at the newspaper office where the secretary will buzz the boss. By the way, did anyone realise that Mary Jane has v hairy hands? This can be seen before they give each other a hug at the pub where she sings towards the end of the movie, the directors did a v close up on her hands and we were a little turn off. Haha

5.6km JPMorgan Corporate Challenge

The heavy rain in the afternoon dampen my mood to go for the corporate challenge as it will dirty my New Nike shoes. Didnt really wear it ever since i bot last year and now i have to wear and step on those muddy puddle. So Xin Tong =)

We didnt manage to catch the chartered bus there all bcos of her.... So angry, she is simply unreasonable and has serious attitude problem. From this incident, I have learnt to be less nasty to those service providers going forward. Those who have read this, please remind me from time to time ok?

Back to the run, I didnt expect many ppl to turn up given such bad weather conditions. As usual, you will see alot of different companies especially financial institutions participating in this event. We missed the start "On your mark, get set, Go!" by the time we reached there... By the way, when i was young, i tot that it sounded like "Alamak, get set, Go!" Was real puzzled at that pt of time as i dont understand why they have to say something like that before the competition starts. Haha Me and my funny english interpretation again.
The 5.6km route started off from Esplanade Drive to Ritz Carlton and all the way down to Concourse area before we make a Uturn and back to Padang. On the whole i only ran the first km then walked throughout the remaining journey and this took me an hour. Those gurkas were like Walt Disney road runner, they only took abt 17 mins to complete the race and i catched a glimpse of them near Ritz - they are making their way back to the finishing line while i am only abt 1 km away from the starting point.

Walking can be tiring as well so i decided to take out my phone and take some photos on the distance indicator and Singapore Flyer. From what i heard, it will be ready by end 2007 and the bookings are already full for the first six mths of operation.

Here's a picture to show how muddy it is at Padang and my shoes actually sink it when i stand on the same spot for too long.
After queuing extremely long for the post run goodie bag, i met up with Di for a short while before going back to the tent to enjoy the food and drinks. Had real fun there as a new colleague from another dept is trying to get us understand her Hokkien when she cannot speak well in this language. We tot she is scolding vulgarities initially when in actual fact, she is just saying that her dad stays on the eighth floor. This makes the joke of the day.
After those happy hours, we head back to office at about 8 plus to finish off some work. Salted vegetable life....

Exploring HK in 2 weeks' time with Ah Di........

Finally can take a short break and go HK with Ah Di, feeling so excited as we can go shopping and also watch Sammi concert - fulfilling my long term wish... Sammi really mesmerize us to think that we dont mind watching her concert even though the tickets are all separately seated. Hopefully those ppl seating besides us are not those 'chi ko' HK ah pehs.

YX has kindly offered us accomodation as she got herself a new place which sounds cool as the location is so perfect - Soho Mid Level Caines Road. It is near Central and we can take the longest escalator in HK. Thanks babe for getting us the sofa bed, pillow and quilt from Ikea. =)

Did alot of research on HK today so that we can fully utilise our time and cover most of the places. The Peak, Madam Trussard Museum, Esprit/ Adidas warehouse, Ladies Street, Avenue of Stars etc are all those Must-go place. I am pinning for their Xu Liu Shan mango dessert. If i can, i will definitely grab one per day.
